A diagnostic that will not say how it reaches its number is asking to be taken on trust. This page states the method, names the frameworks that produce each part of the Ledger, and sets out the limits of the instrument as it stands today.
Validation to date is internal system validation, carried out in April and May 2026. The system was run against public information from real companies. Where company information was unavailable, inputs were fabricated to complete the run, and those runs are counted as system tests rather than as readings of those businesses.
This is not validation through paying clients. No completed client engagement has yet been used to test whether the Final Velvex Score predicts what it is intended to predict. Any claim that it has would be false, and this page exists so that no reader has to ask.
What that internal validation does establish is narrower and worth stating exactly: that the scoring logic is internally consistent, that the weightings behave as designed across varied inputs, and that the four frameworks produce a coherent Ledger end to end. It does not establish predictive accuracy against outcomes.
VEF, the Velvex Eligibility Framework — the eligibility review. Industry legitimacy, operational integrity, representation and marketing. It decides whether a full diagnostic proceeds at all, before any scoring begins.
VDL, the Velvex Diagnostic Language — the structural reading across the seven engines. It is a structural language rather than a measurement instrument, and it has never been assessed on measurement terms, because measurement is not what it does.
VSL, the Velvex Scoring Logic — survivability scoring across six dimensions, resolving to the Final Velvex Score out of 100. Its weightings are validated using an Analytic Hierarchy Process.
VHM, the Velvex Health Model — the health state. It alone assigns the band the score resolves into. VSL never does.
It does not attach a band. VSL stops at the Final Velvex Score out of 100 and goes no further.
It does not attach a label, a grade, a tier or a colour. A number on its own is not a judgement.
It does not decide whether a business is healthy. That word belongs to a different framework and a separate step.
It assigns the health state the score resolves into, and it is the only part of the system permitted to do so.
Keeping the two apart is what makes the score auditable: the measurement can be checked without arguing about the label, and the label can be argued about without touching the measurement.
A single step that produced a number and a verdict together would make those two disagreements the same disagreement.
VCVP, the Velvex Calibration & Validation Protocol — it sets how the diagnostic may be used and how its outputs may be represented. It is the protocol by which calibration and validation are carried out, not an instrument that produces a reading of its own.
It cannot be validated against cases by design, and the name is not a contradiction: it is the standard the other frameworks are held to rather than a claim about a business. There is no outcome it predicts, so there is nothing to test it against — and a page reporting a validation figure for it would be reporting a number that cannot exist.
Every finding in an Executive Ledger is tagged as observed fact, inference or assumption, and every assumption is disclosed rather than hidden.
A worked example of all three tiers in use is on the Proof of Concept page, run end to end on an illustrative case.
Value Engine · Demand Engine · Delivery Engine · Trust Engine
Cashflow Structure · Adaptation Capacity · Exposure Surface
They are read as one connected chain rather than seven scores, because the failure that matters is usually the tension between two of them.
Market Position · Offer Structure · Customer Acquisition
Conversion Systems · Operations · Growth Leverage
These are what the Analytic Hierarchy Process weights against each other to produce the Final Velvex Score.
